The Anderson Family revisit Imbaseni Impressions of Imbaseni 15 years on… |

We have recently returned from an amazing visit back to Imbaseni Centre in Tanzania. It was such a privilege to return after so many years and see the great work that the staff continue to do year after year. Peter Cherra was doing a great job leading the project and believed in training and investing in education for the staff. We had a lovely welcome from old friends and new and our overriding impressions were of a happy Tanzanian-style project. The centre itself had trees and bushes grown up making it look more beautiful and established than the building-site-look of our memories! There were new buildings and others in the process of being built. Unlike our previous stay we had both electricity and water for the majority of our 10 day visit which was a huge blessing for us but we hear it is not always the case. We were surprised and delighted by the new mobile phone technology which allowed good communications between people. The area around Imbaseni seemed to have become more populated but also more developed and there were definitely more cars! It was great to see camps taking place for local churches and for a Compassion project. We were sorry to miss the VTC as it was their holiday time. Our children had an amazing experience, learnt a huge amount about a culture other than Scotland and there was always so much to talk about! |
